I like you. But not all the time.

I love cold weather. I love it when I can curl up with a book next to the fire wrapped in a blanket. I love the cold weather when I can sit down and watch a movie with my family. I even love cold weather because it makes for a good snowboarding season. I do NOT however, like it all the time.

But when I walk out my front door and it looks like this, I'm okay with that.

love/hate relationship

Are you ever doing something and all the sudden you have a flashback to your childhood? I had one of those recently. It was one of those little things which makes it all the more special. With my dad being from Montana, every winter as a family, we would drive from Southern California to the tip of Montana. Looking back, those were by far the most divine vacations. Now that I live here (in the place I use to vacation), I get to enjoy the little things almost daily.

Anyway, so back to the flashback thing I was talking about. Sunday it snowed. And man did it get cold. I knew it was happening. We actually had a fall. Usually it's "summer" and then one day you wake up with 8 inches of snow on the ground (or so I've been told). With a warm fall, I knew winter was coming in full blast. It's currently 6 degrees outside. Brr. Monday morning I walked out to start my car, usually 10 minutes before I had to leave (like my dad taught me). And right away, I slipped on ice and caught myself on my car door handle. Probably a moment of hilarity had you been watching me. But boy, did it hurt as I collided against my door and banged my shin against the side-step. It reminded me of all the times my dad would say, "careful, the roads are slick as snot". And I avoided texting him about that moment because I knew that would be the first thing he would say to me.

So there you have it folks! If you're in harsh weather, be safe. If you're like me, go get a Starbucks drink and curl up and watch a movie, or study for a test, whatever. But enjoy it and be safe!!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
1) Having to explain the kind of sound your car is making to your dad so hopefully he can fix it from a thousand miles away
2) Also having the mechanic explain to you what the fan clutch is to you about three times because you still don't understand how it can possibly cause so much destruction.
3) When the DMV lady gets grouchy and you get grouchy right back at her. Who do you think you are anyway? Rude.

Awesome:
1) Going to school in sweats. Everyday. Without makeup. Although that may be embarrassing. Haven't quite figured that one out yet.
2) Having your roommate cook you pumpkin rolls and eating them when you come home from school. Recipe here:
3) Class being cancelled. I'm pretty sure I can telepathically convince my professor to make this a regular thing.
4) Getting a 92 on an exam and have your professor say "good job" with a proud look on his face when he gives it back you you. Boom.

Lover of black booties {fall essential}

Probably the smartest (when it comes to fall clothing and fashion) investment I've made thus far. They go with everything; can dress them up or down or skip around in them. Whatever your heart pleases. The colors that exist most in my closet are black&white. Cheesy I know. So these work perfect. I am having such a hard time giving up sandals because I want summer to last as long as possible but I also want to be warm so these are chic and the perfect essential for fall.

It's finally here!

Fall is finally here! Whoohoo! The fun part is that I fiiiinally live in a place where the leaves change colors and the air is brisk. Its no longer "BOOM! Hi, I'm winter". Which is a good things cause I get to frolic in plaid shirts and leggings and drink pumpkin coffee! Hope you're enjoying it as much as me!

Run far.

After a rough day at work recently, I went to leave and my coworker looks at me and says, "run far, and run hard". And so I did, for the first time in such a long time, I put on my running shoes and ran. I ran so hard and got so lost in the moment that I ended up next to a lake. And it was beautiful, and so therapeutic for my soul.

NO MORE APARTMENT LIVING!

Yeah, you heard that right. I get to move and I am beyond excited. This was my first (and hopefully only) time living in an apartment. It was a good learning experience, especially for moving to a place where I knew almost no one (cue the thousand plus people who know my family). i loved being by myself but now I get to live in a house with two other friends and I could not be more excited. I sweet-talked my father into flying up and helping me pack and move, he couldn't say no. Now, here comes the unorganized mess of throwing stuff into boxes and into the back of my car. Here comes the Pinterest boards of decor lovin'. Here comes a new adventure! Cheers to new beginnings, and the sun starting to come out!
